After studying civil and structural technology at British Columbia Institute of Technology, Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) Ed Lim earned a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science with a Management Science option at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. Presently, Ed Lim, P.Eng. is working toward his Master’s degree in Business Administration. Ed Lim, P.Eng. served as a Timber Truss Retrofit Specialist and a Timber Truss and Frame Retrofit Engineer at United Building Systems International Corp. in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Now President and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Ed Lim, P.Eng. oversees the engineering, management, and building sites. As he heads up the team of Timber Design Specialist at United Building Systems, where entails designing and creating prefabricated wood systems for commercial and multifamily construction. The company originated when Cloverdale Truss Co. Ltd., Permatruss Ltd., and Lougheed Truss Ltd united. Ed Lim, P.Eng. and his team at United Building Systems boast 50 years of combined experience in design, engineering, use cutting-edge design software and Computer Numeric Control (CNC) technology to provide effective solutions for engineering projects. Active in his field, Ed Lim, P.Eng. serves on the Executives of the Board of Directors of the Western Wood Truss Association of British Columbia and the Canadian Wood Truss Association. Ed Lim, P.Eng. also joined the Provincial Steering Committee of the Canadian Wood Council, an organization he has assisted in several publications. Such publications include the Engineering Guide for Wood Frame Construction and the Design and Costing Workbook series. A devoted runner, Ed Lim, P.Eng. trains for and participates in half marathons, marathons, and triathlons. He competed in the Vancouver Half Marathon in 2007; the BMO Vancouver Marathon in 2008 and 2009; the Vancouver Triathlon in 2008 and 2009; and the Great Wall of China Half Marathon in 2009. Ed Lim, P.Eng. also enjoys spending time with his family, operating a 95-foot boom crane, and unloading prefabricated wood frame systems onto construction sites.
